  • 1.25 cups - Self-raising Flour (null)
  • 0.5 cup - coco sugar (null)
  • 0.3333333333333333 cup raw - cacao (null)
  • 1 teaspoon - baking powder (tsp)
  • 2 nulls - flax eggs (null)
  • 0.5 cup - almond milk (null)
  • 1 teaspoon - vanilla (tsp)
  • 0.5 cup boiling - water (null)

Instructions

  1. Turn on your oven. Set the temperature to 180 degrees Celsius (350-375 degrees Fahrenheit). Allow the oven to heat up fully before baking.

  2. Prepare a baking pan. You can lightly spread butter or oil inside the pan and then dust it with flour. Alternatively, line the pan with parchment paper. This stops the cake from sticking.

  3. Get a large mixing bowl. Add the self-raising flour, coco sugar, raw cacao, and baking powder to this bowl. Whisk these dry ingredients together until they are evenly mixed. Make sure there are no lumps.

  4. Get a separate, medium-sized bowl. Add the flax eggs, almond milk, vanilla, and boiling water to this bowl. Stir these wet ingredients until they are combined.

  5. Pour the wet ingredients from the medium bowl into the large bowl with the dry ingredients. Stir gently with a spoon or whisk. Stop stirring as soon as the ingredients are just combined and the batter looks smooth. Do not mix for too long, as this can make the cake tough.

  6. Carefully pour all the cake batter into the prepared baking pan. Spread it evenly across the bottom of the pan.

  7. Place the baking pan into the preheated oven. Bake for exactly 45 minutes.

  8. After 45 minutes, check if the cake is ready. Insert a clean toothpick into the very center of the cake. If the toothpick comes out completely clean, the cake is done. If it has wet batter on it, bake for a few more minutes and check again.

  9. Remove the cake from the oven. Let the cake cool down inside the pan for 10 to 15 minutes. After this time, carefully lift or flip the cake out of the pan. Place it onto a wire rack. Let it cool completely on the wire rack.

  10. Once the cake is fully cooled, you can add decorations. For example, you can spread melted vegan chocolate on top if you like.
